When the vertebra is fractured, the bone is compressed, distorted, and deformed. The spine’s stability and capacity of bearing weight are therefore impaired. The nerve roots and the spinal cord can be pressed, which cause pain. Compressed fracture can involve single or multiple vertebras. Vertebroplasty is a minimally invasive procedure. It is designed to treat vertebral compressed fracture. The procedure is performed under radioimage guidance, by a pain specialist, who injects a special concrete-like material into the fractured vertebral body. When hardened, the concrete can help reestablish the shape and strength of the vertebral body and reinstall the stability of vertebral column.
